Why Include Vehicle Wraps in your 2023 Advertising Budget:
Vehicle graphics are regarded as one of the most effective forms of advertising on the market today. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA), a single-vehicle wrap will get anywhere from 30,000 to 80,000 views per DAY. If that’s not a compelling enough reason to get started, what would you think if I told you that vehicle graphics have the lowest cost per impression of any available advertising medium?
What makes investing in vehicle graphics even smarter is that your vehicle will work as a mobile billboard and advertise for your business 24/7 for a one-time fee. The numbers are quite impressive and the best part is that this is a one-time investment for the next 4-7 years. No monthly fees and no repetitive calls every 6 months to see if you want to invest more money in a marketing campaign. After a one-time investment, you are good to go!
Vehicle Wrap Packages serve as the the cost effective solution for advertising in 2023, so it’s time to get started!
Types of Vehicle Wrap Packages:
A full vehicle wrap will make the largest impact. These involve fully covering the vehicle with custom vinyl (usually excluding the roof). Any vehicle color can become part of your fleet with this solution!
A partial vehicle wrap involves covering up to 1/2 or so of the vehicle in vinyl. This option includes the paint color in the final design. Similarly to full wraps, this option leaves plenty of room for branding.
Decals & Lettering:
Vehicle lettering and decals are the simplest forms of wraps available. This option involves using the vehicle paint as a backdrop for your logo, contact info, and minimal branding. If nothing else, you should see lettering your fleet as a necessity!
What to expect when you start the process:
We believe in delivering only the highest quality products, so to do that we prefer to schedule a consultation before starting a vehicle wrap package. This consultation can occur via phone/ email but we prefer if you can bring your vehicle by the shop so we can talk and get measurements at the same time.
Primarily we are looking for the wheelbase, the year, make, and model, as well as some dimensions, to help with scaling a design. Since vehicle wraps are quoted based on square footage this step is crucial!
Designing Vehicle Wrap Packages & Quoting it
These two steps go in tandem. Some clients prefer to pay upfront for design services and then we quote the vehicle package after a design is solidified. Most clients, however, prefer us to come up with a rough rendering that we quote, and then once a deposit is placed we begin nailing down the design.
Remember this is an investment and part of your 2023 advertising budget, and it is a set cost per vehicle! While some options do come at a higher price tag than others, they will get you noticed!
Once we have a deposit on your bold vehicle wrap package we will create a custom design through our proof process that will not only look amazing but also meets each thing you require. We include 2 proof revisions within the quoting cost. Beyond that, we will bill an hourly rate for changes. We want to make sure you love it!
Production of your vehicle graphics
Our in-house design team will take your approved design and create files for production. This process takes some time but it ensures a streamlined installation! Unlike many sellers online, our team has a hand in the job throughout the design, production, and installation processes ensuring there is no confusion down the line.
We will print and laminate your graphics and cut out any necessary elements. As a 3M-certified shop, we use only the best materials and can offer 3M backed warranties on their materials. Upon completion of all elements, we will schedule you to bring in your vehicle for installation.
Installation of your vehicle graphics
Before dropping off your vehicle, we ask that you wash it and it comes in clean and dry. This speeds up the prep time required before vinyl installation. The prep process is tedious and should not also have to include washing the car. Our team will go over your vehicle inch by inch with an assortment of chemicals and alcohol to ensure they are prepped and will deliver a clean finish. Dirt can lead to failures in the vinyl!
The physical wrap process is a labor of love. Our skilled team will contour material to your vehicle leaving a bold and transformed appearance!
Challenges facing Fleet Graphics and Wraps:
When people try to sell you vehicle graphics usually stop at the benefits without digging into some of the challenges and burdens you will face along the way, but not here. We want to help you make the most informed decision for your business.
One of the main challenges across the board right now is finding vehicles at a reasonable cost. With the lingering supply chain issues, we know used vehicles have gained popularity. That said, when it comes to using a used vehicle in your branding package there are a few things to be aware of!
Is the vehicle you want to add to your fleet already vehicle wrapped/ lettered?
The reality is that while vehicle wraps are removable and long-lasting, the longer they are on the more difficult the vinyl is to remove. If you purchase a wrapped vehicle, know that removal can be almost as expensive as the wrap itself depending on timing and material. If the existing wrap consisted of decals and lettering or partial coverage, there will be ghosting on the paint with removal.
Ghosting is a result of the exposed paint fading from the sun and weathering. A detailer can sometimes get all the ghosting out by buffing the paint, but more times than not, there will be a residual image of the prior graphic. If you are going from lettering to a full wrap this won’t be a problem, but it is something to take into consideration with your vehicles.
What state is the vinyl in on your vehicle?
You can gauge how long vinyl has been on a vehicle by the way it looks. If the vinyl is peeled and cracking it has been on too long and will be expensive to remove. When a full or partial wrap is in good condition it can be taken off with a combination of heat, steam, chemicals, and a thorough cleaning process. This process is priced on time and material, but we can usually give you a rough idea of what we anticipate.
If the vehicle is covered in a super cracked wrap you have a few options depending on the style of vehicle. Our favorite solution to the miserable removal of old cracked graphics on a box truck is to apply a custom banner solution stretch frame to the perimeter of the box. The cost of this solution is similar to a wrap, but it eliminates the need for removal.
Are there any rust spots? Has the vehicle been recently painted/after-market?
Many people have the perception that they can buy a beat-up vehicle and cover it with vinyl and it will look brand new. While there is a level of truth in this thought, the reality is the durability of your wrap lies in the state of the vehicle. Rust spots, peeling paint and large dings/dents will be visible through the wrap and will weaken the wrap leading to failure points down the line.
Vinyl applied to poorly done paint can result in peeling paint which not only will make your wrap fail but also incurs additional costs in materials, painting your vehicle and issues down the line with removal. A cheap paint job is never a good solution!
