Moving your business to a new location provides a great opportunity to review how you want to present your company to customers and review your branding strategies including the visuals that represent who you are. We recently had that opportunity with a business moving into an upscale newly constructed facility. They called us in to see what the possibilities were within the facility that would present their brand in a modern and professional image as well as provide some color, dimension and texture to their office space. The industrial esthetic of the interior of the new building complete with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, open ceilings, exposed pipes and steel structures served as great inspiration for the interior signage package!
Floor-to-ceiling glass allows for an abundance of light to pass through a space, but it also has the ability to create a fishbowl effect. To retain the bright ambiance within the space while also providing privacy we created a frost and translucent vinyl package that added color, privacy and a modern flare throughout the office. Mixing textures, vinyls, logo elements and colors we created a bold package that creates a cohesive branding flow throughout the space.
One of the most important aspects of the interior was a bold sign presenting their logo as a centerpiece of the main lobby of their office space. The CEO expressed his desire for a high-end-looking sign that was unlike anything he had seen. We went to work creating concepts to include his desire for illumination, dimension and color while still working with the spotlights that were already in place.
The solution is an internally illuminated sign cabinet that would highlight the colored bands around their name as well as halo illumination for the interior of the letters as well as the perimeter of the sign. We designed a sign cabinet with reverse channel letters in the center and an acrylic panel with only the oval section of the logo exposed and a wrap-around cabinet on the exterior. We then mounted the cabinet on 1-1/2 standoffs to allow the light to exit the back of the sign creating a halo effect around the perimeter of the sign as well as the interior of the reverse channel letters.
To keep with the modern appearance we finished the cabinet with an aluminized paint finish. To blend in with the exposed structural steel and piping in that space we installed a faux diamond plate wall in satin black. Additionally, the customer wanted control of the illumination so that they could tone down the color or halo effect to a specific level. In order to accomplish that we included an LED dimmer remote so that they can set the level of illumination to any desired brightness.
The end result is stunning and we couldn’t be more pleased. The challenges were great not only from the design development but also the fabrication and installation. These creative-type projects are certainly the most stressful but also the most rewarding. If you don’t stretch your capabilities, you lose a growth opportunity that only makes you better. We appreciate and enjoy these projects and are always looking for projects that expand our creativity.
